I write and edit science and health stories for universities, nonprofit institutions, and media outlets. Current clients include Stanford Medicine, the University of Miami, Yale School of Medicine, the University of Washington, the Institute for Systems Biology, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center, Message Lab, and the Simons Foundation. Past clients include Biomedical Computation Review, Cancer Discovery, The Scientist, Modernist Cuisine, Alzforum, Multiple Sclerosis Discovery Forum, Conservation Magazine, Mongabay, The Loh Down on Science (NPR), Santa Cruz Sentinel, Monterey Herald, Xconomy, and UCSF.

Led all written storytelling at the Institute, elevating website content and the profile of the Institute. Web traffic increased 13-50% year over year. Garnered media coverage in national and global outlets including the New York Times, Washington Post, NPR, BBC, Nature, Science, Scientific American, WIRED, AP, and Forbes.
Wrote breaking news, large announcements, enterprise feature stories, and patient profiles. Several stories recognized with regional and national writing awards.
Produced and co-hosted Lab Notes, the Institute’s podcast. Launched new audio storytelling format for the Institute; key episodes include interviews with novelist Yaa Gyasi and consciousness expert Christof Koch.
Managed and edited summer editorial intern.
Launched and led SciComm@Allen, a science communication training and interest group for staff.

WRITER/EDITOR (2013-2018)
Wrote one to two stories per week for news site and feature stories for the quarterly Hutch Magazine (circulation 60k). News stories led to media coverage from The New York Times, Discover, STAT, HealthDay, Geekwire, and others.
Covered basic and translational medical research for tight deadline news stories and in depth enterprise features. Stories recognized with national awards.

Part of social media team that increased Facebook & Twitter audiences by >200%.
